Important Announcement

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association is sponsoring a seminar entitled Critical Incident Training: What Every Police Officer Needs to Know to be held Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 9 to 4 p.m. As we have done for previous seminars, LELS will pay for one steward per local to attend this training. We have reserved 100 spots so we can offer this opportunity to as many locals as possible.

Please contact Vicki Eliasen, Executive Assistant, at 651-793-2316, no later than Friday, September 10th, to register for this seminar. Since the registration fee charged to LELS for each attendee is non-refundable after September 19th, we ask you to please make sure you are able to attend, or cancel prior to that date. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis, so contact Vicki as soon as possible on her direct line, 651-793-2316. Remember, there are only 100 spots available, so act fast. P.O.S.T. credits have been applied for and the Ramada Plaza Hotel is offering a special room rate to seminar participants. Lunch is also included. Call Vicki should you have any questions

The summer is in full swing and no doubt many of you continue negotiating your contracts at a furious pace. We all look to establish collective bargaining agreements which will meet the needs of the entire membership.  But, with the current economy, and the State budget for the next biennium forecast at a six to seven billion dollar deficit securing a contract which satisfies a majority is easier said than done.  ....
