Matthew Mankey
Matthew J. Mankey is the founder of the Mankey Law Office where, as a sole practitioner, he focuses exclusively on criminal defense matters. Located in Golden Valley, Minnesota, he represents clients throughout the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area and other parts of the state. Mr. Mankey has been admitted to practice in Minnesota since 1992, and in the following year he was admitted to practice before both the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.
Mr. Mankey serves those who have been accused by the state or federal government of committing misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of charges that he has helped his clients face include sexual assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, weapons violations, drug possession and distribution, theft, burglary, juvenile offenses, tax fraud, counterfeiting, extortion, blackmail, bribery, bank robbery and homicide. Mr. Mankey’s clients have benefitted from his extensive experience in obtaining charge dismissals, bench and jury acquittals, and the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with the prosecution, and this successful track record has earned him several honors and awards from his colleagues, including an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 “Superb” peer-review rating through Avvo.
Mr. Mankey’s academic credentials are quite impressive as well. After majoring in government and history at Saint John's University in Minnesota, he spent a semester at the University of Salzburg before returning to the U.S. and receiving his Bachelor of Arts. He then attended the American University in Washington DC where he earned a Master's Degree in International Affairs. He then graduated cum laude from what was then known as the William Mitchell College of Law.
