Mark SChneider

Mark Schneider is General Counsel of Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) and oversees the LELS Legal Team while assisting Members with internal affairs, employment, grievance and contract matters. Mark is also involved in legislative issues concerning law enforcement and assists with drafting new or amended legislation. Mark is admitted before the state and federal courts in Minnesota and represents LELS in various matters before the District and Appellate Courts in Minnesota.

Prior to joining LELS, Mark was in the private practice of law, practicing in the areas of civil litigation and representing law enforcement groups with contract, discipline, and grievance matters. Mark also was a municipal prosecutor in Hennepin County. In that capacity, Mark assisted in officer training, continuing legal education courses for attorneys and was one of the attorneys who represented the State of Minnesota during the Intoxilyzer 5000 EN-Source Code litigation.

Mark received his BA from the University of Minnesota and graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, cum laude. Mark has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell, voted upon by peers and the judiciary. Mark was honored to have received the Distinguished Service Award from MPPOA in October 2023. He was also selected as a 2023 Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer for his work representing the families of officers injured or killed in the line of duty.

Mark is committed to representing law enforcement and public safety personnel throughout the State of Minnesota. He was instrumental in enhancing the representation of witness officers involved in Critical Incidents / OIS’s and conducts statewide training on that topic regularly.
