Patrick G. Leach completed his education obtaining a BA from the University of Minnesota and graduated with his JD from William Mitchell College of Law.

He began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael Talbot DeCourcy from June 1995 through November 1997; he then worked in the St. Paul City Attorney's Office as an Assistant St. Paul City Attorney. He joined the firm of Thomsen & Nybeck in 2000 handling criminal defense matters, as well as prosecution for the Metropolitan Airports Commission and the City of Edina; he joined the film of Bonner & Borhart in October 2002 to 2014, where he continued representing the City of Edina as their prosecuting attorney and also handled private criminal defense matters. He also was appointed as a CJA Panel attorney for the Federal Public Defender's Office in 2003. Mr. Leach handles civil litigation and criminal defense cases. He has been the owner and lead attorney for Leach Law Office since September 2014, where he continued to be the prosecuting attorney for the City of Edina, continued in his work as a CJA Panel Attorney for the Federal Public Defender's Office, and handles private civil litigation and criminal defense cases.

In 2024, Mr. Leach received recognition for over twenty years of service as a CJA Panel Attorney for the Federal Public Defender's Office. He has presented at CLE courses and provided legal updates to law enforcement.

Mr. Leach has appeared in all Minnesota Courts, State and Federal, both in the District Court and Court of Appeals. He provides personalized and committed representation to anyone charged with a crime in the State of Minnesota. He is a respected attorney in the State of Minnesota.
